Motivation and engagement are key factors influencing sports success. A well-timed challenge can energize athletes, boost their mood, and make training more exciting. That’s where Challenge Mode steps in. It brings a competitive edge to drills, making training more fun while tracking performance. Your athletes will stay motivated, push their limits, and see measurable progress that will keep them hungry for more.

What is Challenge Mode?
Challenge Mode is a drill setup option in Sportreact PLUS plan that lets athletes compete in game-like drills and tracks their scores.
Let them compete!
Challenge mode has two options — Split and Combine —, giving coach the flexibility to create different levels of competition and competition formats.
Split Mode: Compete Against the Clock
The Split option allows two athletes to compete against each other with their own group of pods, aiming for the highest score. This mode enables athletes to concentrate on their individual performance while maintaining the excitement and intensity of competition.
How to perform?
The goal is to complete the drill as quickly as possible. Athletes race against the clock to beat their personal bests and improve their times. This mode helps athletes focus on improving their own performance, with the added pressure of competition.
Why is it useful?
After the drill, athletes can easily save and compare their results - number of hits or misses during, and track progress over a period of training. The Split Mode can be particularly useful as a fun and engaging way to train speed and precision.

Split Mode:
First to Deactivate - Lateral
Setup: Two 3-pod stations are placed 3 meters apart: (0,1,2) and (3,4,5). One athlete is positioned at each station. When the drill begins, one pod at each station will light up—one red, one blue.
Athletes focus on their designated pods and compete to deactivate their signal first using lateral movement strategies.
Use for: This drill enhances competition and urgency in movement while improving lateral explosiveness, change of direction, and reaction speed.

Soccer Passing Challenge
By Petra Mandic
Setup: The players stand opposite each other, with sensors placed on the floor between them, 1 meter apart. The time between the signals is 2.5 seconds. The goal of the exercise is for the two players to race and see who can turn off the sensor first while controlling the ball with their feet as best as possible.
Use for: This exercise helps develop reaction speed and the technical skill of guiding the ball.
Combine Mode: Fight For Pods
The Combine option takes things up a notch. In this mode, all athletes share the same group of pods and compete against each other directly, making the drill more intense and competitive.
How to perform?
In combine mode, all athletes share the same set of pods and compete against each other. Athletes must not only focus on their own performance but also try to stop their opponents from "catching" the signals.
Why is it useful?
This mode adds pressure because if one athlete catches a signal, other loses a point. It’s perfect for high-energy drills where athletes need to stay focused and competitive, watching both their own moves and their opponents.
Challenge Mode does't just make training fun — it helps athletes get better. It builds a competitive mindset, pushes them to perform under pressure, and gives you the data to see their strengths and areas to improve.
Combine Mode:

Catch It first
In this challenge, two athletes compete to catch the red number or letter on the same set of pods, as quickly as possible.
Setup: The Sportreact pods are placed on tripods at eye level, positioned evenly between them. Both athletes stand facing the pods, ready to react. Every 2.5 seconds, the pods light up, displaying a number or letter in different colors. The goal is to tap the pod showing the red number or letter before the opponent does. The first athlete to successfully tap the correct pod earns a point.
Use for: This drill enhances reaction speed, decision-making, focus, and hand-eye coordination under pressure. Let the challenge begin and see who reacts the fastest!

Deactivate It First
This drill challenges athletes to react quickly to visual cues, improving their reaction speed, decision-making, and explosive acceleration.
Setup: Place one Sportreact pod on a tripod at eye level, centered between two athletes. Position two additional pods on each side, behind the central pod, at a short sprinting distance. Both athletes should stand shoulder to shoulder, facing the central pod, ready to react. When the central pod lights up, it will display an arrow pointing either left or right. Athletes must sprint and reach the correct side as quickly as possible. The first athlete to tap the corresponding pod scores a point.
Use for: This drill enhances focus, coordination, agility and movement efficiency under pressure.
